    How We Met

They met online with a dating app. Joe was about to give up on online dating as he had spent a considerable amount of time with no luck. In Jane’s dating profile, she stated that she wanted a man who was ‘towering over her.’ At a modest 5’7 1/2, Joe wasn’t sure he would meet Jane’s standards, but he reached out anyway.

Immediately, they felt a strong connection. Apparently, 5’7 is tall in the Philippines. Joe asked to visit Jane in the Philippines right away, but Jane said it was too soon, so Joe visited a few months later instead.

    Meeting in Person

After meeting in person, the two quickly became an official couple. After a few days in the city, they traveled back to Jane’s hometown in Botolan, Zambales. Joe had initially planned to stay for a few weeks but extended his stay, resulting in nearly three months in the Philippines.

    We Are Engaged

Before leaving, Joe proposed in one of the most expensive hotels in Manila (over $100 a night). Jane quickly accepted, and they began planning how they would tackle the immigration process.

    Joe Visits Again

Joe visits Jane for 40 days. The second trip was better than the first. Joe purchased a motorcycle, and together they enjoyed many rides around Zambales.

Registry

For our registry, we are asking for help building our home.

For those who have been following us, we have been working on building a small cabin on our family’s off-grid Hawaiian Homestead lot. We have the skills and the desire to move to full-time. However, it has been financially challenging due to the costs of immigration, graduate school, and everything else.

We have decided to ask for donations. Understand that nothing is expected and everything is appreciated.

Will you be able to make it?

Please RSVP before September 7
